Chassis - Market Quality Engineer
Swindon, Wiltshire, England
One of the most successful vehicle manufacturers in the UK now has an opportunity for an experienced Automotive Chassis Engineer with good experience of product design. Based in Swindon, commutable from Reading, Bristol, Bath, Oxford, Cheltenham.
The Design Quality department is based at Swindon and their main role is to support RandD in Japan and America to make Quick recovery and prevent reoccurrence of Quality concerns. You will manage quality concerns related to design and specification and will carry out complex technical investigations and deploy countermeasure actions that improve vehicle, reduce warranty cost and improve customer satisfaction. The main elements of the role will include:
- Testing - experienced in data acquisition using Dewtron or V Box for example
- Use in-house systems to collect market data and incident parts
- Travel to incident vehicles, operational environment and actual customer concerns
- Liaison with Designers, Service, Production and our customers
- Take a hand on approach to locally reproducing concerns and analysing defective parts
- Preparing reports and presentation problem status and future planned activities to senior managers internally and externally
- Lead, manage cross functional teams to establish causes of major Quality issues
- The role will require frequent travel to overseas and on occasions at short notice
Candidate requirements: - An Engineering Degree
- Demonstrable problem solving skills in Chassis Brakes / Suspension / Wheels / Tyres
- Excellent PC skills - particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Be proactive and demonstrate a high level of self motivation to deliver
- Catia v5 2D/3D skills are desirable
