Xtrac Ltd is a world leading supplier of high performance transmissions.

They are now looking for a Trainee CNCShaper for the day shift..

The objective of the role is to programme/edit, set and operate CNC shaping machines as well as any other relevant machines to produce transmission parts to the company quality standards.

Specialising in Transmission Technology, supplying the Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Marine and Motor Sports Sectors.
The responsibilities of the role will include:



Work to department schedule.

Check batch job pack components and packaging.

Check for set up sheets and part history. Create if necessary.

Obtain data sheet (if applicable).

Locate tooling and cutters.

Set up machine for first off including deburring.

Inspect/buddy check/self inspect first off.

Operate machine observing completion of control plans if applicable.

Clear and deburr components to required standard and oil dip.

Complete all necessary job cards and paperwork, repack in appropriate packaging, book off and relocate to next operation.

Ability to prioritise work in the absence of a Team Leader and address any manufacturing issues.

To store and maintain all tooling linked to the process.

To undertake day to day machine maintenance.

To be able and willing to operate additional machines when required.

To be part of the personal development process and attend reviews as required.

To observe the Health and Safety rules at all times.
To follow the company quality procedures.
To carry out any reasonable additional duties as requested by management
The successful candidate will have proven experience in CNC Hobbing CNC Shaping within a manufacturing environment.
(Will also consider CNC Milling experience if willing to re-train)


Ideally hold a mechanical engineering apprenticeship or come from a solid engineering background.


You must have an understanding of complex engineering drawings and instructions, be able to visualise finished products and have a good understanding of the properties of the materials worked with.


Must be flexible in the workplace and have an excellent level of concentration you must also have an appreciation for the customers high requirements and short lead times.
