Interior and Exterior Design Engineer

Interior and Exterior Design Engineer is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in Warwickshire.

Description
Responsible for the following: The design and development of component parts and sub-systems for both new and model year programme actions from concept through to launch; Management of key suppliers, liaison with ETO Purchase, Quality, & Vehicle Engineering & Manufacturing; To assist the departmental Group Leader and/or Programme Module Leader with all aspects of programme activities such as clay feasibility support, product design specification generation, failure mode avoidance (FMA) application, bill of materials (BOM) set up, WERS release, design validation planning problem solving and engineering sign off; When required lead a small team to deliver the project tasks; Set targets & standards for new features and if necessary become the local expert on products groups.

Job Requirements
Skills Required:
Knowledge of CATIA V5, TCe and Digibuck required.

Skills Preferred:
Product Engineering Design, or Development, or Testing experience. Supplier management experience. Knowledge of Exterior trim or Interior trim or Accessory design development and release is essential. Flexible & motivated. Prepared to work at all sites depending on project requirements. Proven ability to manage own workload, work on multiple tasks and lead small teams. Able to present information in a concise and factual manner. Working knowledge of OEM systems; WERS, eFDVS, DFMEA, DVP. Knowledge of AIMs.

Details
Experience Required:
Must have experience of designing interior and exterior components for vehicles. Must have experience of designing plastic components and have experience of mould tool design. Needs to have a good understanding of how to develop component timing and development plans. Need to be able to develop and manage component test and development programmes. Needs to be able to scope out the component requirements to enable supplier selection.

Education Required:
It is anticipated that applicants will be educated to a degree level in an engineering discipline. Consideration will also be given to candidates with extensive component delivery experience.
