A Part and Assembly Project Engineer is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in Warwickshire.
Description
To support the identification and compilation of all parts/assemblies required for engineering sign-off of Body Engineering components from an understanding of the tests required and liaison with engineers, test engineers and suppliers. Production of full "exploded view" visuals of parts from CAD (using visualisation tools such as Vis Mock-up/Digital Buck) for clarity in discussions with others. Consolidating a full cost status of these parts and assemblies, and identifying opportunities to reduce cost where necessary. Working in conjunction with engineers, Purchasing, New Model Programmes, Logistics personnel and suppliers, arranging and attending meetings as necessary, to ensure requirements are understood, test plan is agreed and correct parts are ordered and delivered when required. Identification of any unique packaging requirements. Working at pilot production plant with Manufacturing, New Model Programmes and Logistics personnel to ensure properties are built to specification and arranging transport. Ensuring timely delivery of parts and assemblies to end customers for test.
Job Requirements
Skills Required:
Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint & Word. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Self confidence and self motivated to deliver with minimum supervision. Ability to lead planning activities with other departments. Ability to work within a team to resolve issues. A 'passion for the product'.
Details
Experience Required:
Experience of program or project management, meeting demanding timescales, budget control and cost effective delivery. Experience of working with vehicle Bills of Material and/or automotive manufacturing experience.
Experience Preferred:
Test/Development experience ideally within the automotive sector or adjacent industries, e.g. rail, aerospace, defence, energy etc.
Education Required:
Ideally educated to a minimum of degree level in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical subject.
Additional Information:
The role will require inter-site travel and periods of several months based at the manufacturing pilot plant. Therefore it is expected that candidates will hold a valid UK Drivers licence.
