We are recruiting for a Operational Buyer (Global Purchasing) on a 12-month contract based in Peterborough.

As Operational Buyer, you wil join a team of 10 and will support the direct material spend relating to the facilities, including a joint venture with a Japanese partner.

Key activities:
Focus will be role specific (Strategic, Operational, or NPI focused) and includes:
* Effectively manage day-to-day operational issues
* Cost control, including ensuring component prices meet 'should cost'
* Ensuring capital spend forecast is accurate and delivered to budget, on time.
* Manage the day-to-day introduction of new parts
* Understand and Interface with Business Unit partners.
* Drive local compliance to negotiated source strategies

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Essential:
* Experience is preferred in purchasing, logistics, manufacturing, and/or engineering.
* The position requires an undergraduate degree from a college or university - or equivalent experience
* A minimum of two years of buying related experience.
* Strong Negotiator, able to interpret, analyze and negotiate cost elements
* Analytical, problem solving, and project leadership skill.
* Effective communicator, in written and oral form. Fluent in English and able to effectively communicate with people across the business where English is the second language
* Well-developed interpersonal skills are required in dealing with sensitive issues, developing others, and reaching consensus on specific actions.

Desirable:
* Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply
* Second language would be advantageous
* Functional leadership - Capable of leading teams, suppliers and customers to effective solutions.
* Demonstrated Project Management skills
* Understanding of the supply chain / manufacturing processes
