We are recruiting for an Assistant Buyer on a 6-month contract based in Kent.

As Assistant Buyer, the role assists the Buyer, Category Manager and Senior Category Manager with all procurement activities.

Assistant Buyers typically work with their own contract portfolio that has a spend ranging from £20's to £10Millions. While the primary responsibility is for contracts, the Assistant Buyer will be asked to support other categories, as and when needed to enhance their development and training.

Experience Required:
Required procurement capabilities will include - 
* A good understanding of what Procurement do and the service it provides to the business
* Strong communication skills
* Strong presentation skills
* Good understanding of category and contract management
* Knowledge of the strategic sourcing process
* Good understanding of how to effectively manage suppliers
* Proficient in stakeholder / customer management
* Expert experience using analytical tools and techniques
* Able to work across and with all functions and levels of the organisation

Technical Role / Role Specific Competencies:
* Strong project management skills
* Ability to work within the procurement organisation to push for innovation
* Ability to think strategically and identify long-term issues and focus on high value projects
* Builds effective working relationships internally and externally with suppliers
* Must be able to listen, understand, and communicate with senior leaders and people at all levels of the organisation
* Requires ability to deal with complex issues and make decisions or can make recommendations with minimal information
* Ability to bring creative and innovative ideas to delivering procurement solutions and contribute towards procurements targets e.g. savings

Qualifications Required:
* Degree standard or equivalent experience
* Prior experience in procurement would be an advantage but not essential.
