A major supplier of industrial machine controls have an opportunity within the Engineering Team at Basildon for the position of Development Engineer.

This role will play a key function in the development of a European Centre of Excellence for design and development of electro-mechanical vehicle controls.

The Development Engineer will be a professional mechanical engineer, and will work within a cross functional team, often undertaking the role of Project Manager in key programmes, working closely with internal and external project teams, along with providing innovative, cost effective and robust design solutions for customer applications.

Experience in the application and use of engineering development tools such as DFMEA, SFM/A, VA/VE techniques, along with a good working knowledge of 3D modelling and 2D drawing packages (ProE, PDM & AutoCAD) will be essential requirements for this role.

A good team player with a ‘can do’ attitude, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in increasing the bench strength of the engineering function, and the creation of a ‘Centre of Excellence’ facility in the design, development and introduction of new technologies and products to the group.

Some travel may be required to other sites, global customers and suppliers.
