Job Purpose

Development of embedded control systems.

System software design, Embedded software development, System integration, Fault finding, Diagnostics, Analysis and reporting of in-service events and development of necessary PC-based applications. Work closely with other disciplines/teams (Electronics engineering, R&T and engineering project teams)

Responsible for

Implementing, testing and documenting embedded controller software for a range of applications from Automotive to Consumer Electronics using the necessary tools and software and working with colleagues within the software and controls group and individuals in several other disciplines.

Skills

Excellent understanding of Engineering Principles, Methodologies.

Excellent working knowledge of Embedded C programming

Good Knowledge of Embedded Linux platforms

Understanding & Implementing Real Time Control Hardware & Software

Good working knowledge of various communication protocols including RS232, SPI, USB and CAN.

Good understanding of Object Orientated Programming.

Good understanding of microcontroller technology and the programming such devices.

Working knowledge of Visual Studio and C#

Good general IT skills - MS office!

Good verbal communication and report writing

Good organisational skills including time management.

Good team working skills.

Qualifications

Relevant Engineering degree or equivalent

Experience

Experience working with embedded controllers

Experience with designing and building control systems using microcontrollers, DSP technology or Automotive type ECUs.

Hands on development, testing and commissioning of systems and their controllers
