Our client is a major automotive manufacturer of car bodies, truck cabs and other automotive products.

We are recruiting for a Project Manager on a 6-month contract based in Coventry.

As Project Engineer, you will lead all the technical aspects of delivering new products in to the business. On an individual project the Project Manager will be responsible for an engineering team and will manage the equipment design and manufacture, reporting progress to a Program Manager who will be responsible for the overall Program delivery. The Project Manager will be the technical manager for the program and will lead the technical team in delivering the processes required for the new products to be produced.

You will be supported by a team of Project Engineers (Tooling PtE, Assembly PaE and Quality PqE) and will manage the design and manufacture of all equipment in line with the program deliverables, to time and budget. The Program Manager will assign a project resource plan and budget for labour, travel and equipment which will then be managed and reported.

In addition, you will manage the supplier RFQ development (with purchase) and once orders have been placed (by Purchase) will manage the relationship with the suppliers ensuring that technical quality, supply timing and contract adherence is maintained. You will be the primary contact between the customer, internal and supplier technical teams supported by Purchasing for contractual issues.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Customer and Supplier liaison on all project engineering issues.
- Manage the technical engineers in the delivery of new or transferred equipment and processes through to supplier buy off and transfer to a plant
- Ensure the Launch manager is informed about content and processes so that the receiving plant is prepared for delivery
- Raise technical specifications for processes and equipment and support the RFQ and procurement process with Purchasing


Characteristics and Requirements -
* Qualified to HNC level or equivalent in Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering.
* Experience in a presswork (preferably body in white) or assembly engineering environment.
* Experience of APQP, SPC, FMEA, PPAP and control plans.
* Good understanding of measurement strategies, locator positions, holding fixtures and CMM systems.
* Experience of working in a TS16949 environment preferable.
