We seek a Machine Design Engineer with a strong working knowledge of Pro-E CAD for an initial 12-month contract based in Leicester.

THE COMPANY:

Caterpillar Building Construction Products (BCP) is located in Desford (Leicestershire). This site is dedicated to the assembly of small construction machines, typically used on building and construction sites. These include Backhoe Loaders, Small Wheel Loaders, Mini Hydraulic Excavators and Compact Wheel Loaders.

THE ROLE:

As a Design Engineer, you will have a varied and exciting role creating new designs from concept through to detailed design ensuring the parts are validated and meet the functional requirements.
The candidate will be responsible for the production release of the parts and expected to work with suppliers to ensure the parts can be manufactured and meet the cost and quality targets.

The successful candidate will work on multiple areas of the machine, including structural fabrications, non-metallic components and cabin interiors, and critical to the success of the role will be an enthusiastic attitude showing the initiative to solve engineering problems and be able to work to tight deadlines.

As part of this role, communication with other design centres will be required for worldwide design collaboration.

THE PERSON:

Applicants will be required to have:
• Machine engineering design experience.
• Computer literate with Pro-E CAD engineering skills
• Experience in designing structural fabrications and non-metallic components.
• Knowledge and experience of problem solving analysis.
• Knowledge of CAT Engineering processes, CAT drawing standards, specifications, and Teamcentre workflow is desirable.
• Experience of Off-highway equipment or other heavy machinery
• Ability to self-direct but also work effectively in a diverse team environment.
• Engineering / Science Degree or equivalent industry experience
