CAD Engineer
Gillingham, Kent, England
A world leader in the innovation, design and manufacture of Diesel Fuel Injection equipment are now looking for a CAD Engineer to work on an initial 6 month period to produce Solidworks models / detailed drawings for components used in next generation common rail [CR] pumps and injectors. This includes both 'clean sheet' solutions as well as the re-use of features from existing designs.
The successful CAD Engineer will report to a Principal Design Engineer / ADP Pump Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Detailing and checking of component drawings for current and future applications of fuel pumps/injectors for the automotive market.
- Assure GDandT and other drafting standards are applied to new component drawings.
- Assist the Principal Design Engineer with design changes that assure the programme meets cost, Design for Manufacture, performance and timing goals.
- Assist the flawless Launch for all new product programmes.
- Facilitate fast and accurate two-way communication with development, purchasing and process engineers to assure robust design and flawless launch objectives.
Must be able to produce and present technical presentations at design reviews is desirable
The CAD Engineer will hold a minimum HNC in mechanical engineering or equivalent with proven experience in design draughting in a production-type environment with good knowledge of GDandT and other drafting standards.
Must have experience of Solidworks (or similar) modelling and draughting experience along with basic physics.
Personal strengths should include: confidence, self-direction, customer focus and good team interaction skills.
Possible need to travel for training, working with customers and for problem resolution on projects as necessary.
