Quality Engineering Supervisor

The purpose of this role is to lead and develop the team of Quality Engineers responsible for carrying out defect resolution from immediate containment through to permanent corrective action as well as being champions for proactive Quality initiatives. Such outcomes will be achieved through great leadership of the team and leveraging opportunities to effectively connect with cross functional teams from the whole business such as Operations, Logistics, Suppliers, Product Management, Design, Customer support teams and indeed the end customer. It is essential the good work commenced by the current post holder who is moving to lead one of our customer support teams is continued and built upon.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leadership of Quality Engineering teams in the timely delivery of robust solutions for customer experienced defects be they in house or supplied in defects.
- To embed a defect resolution escalation process from shop floor to business manager using 6 Sigma through CPI and PIQ.
- Organise and chair cross functional process improvement meetings.
- Embed production Quality Gate best practice and defect management processes.
- Leadership of cross functional teams to deliver the strategy in terms of CAV deployment.
- Leadership in the deployment of Quality improvement tools across manufacturing areas
- Establish and embed an audit plan to monitor performance and sustain the change.
- Perform briefings and coaching across shifts if necessary, providing both formal training and live coaching.
- Ensuring change action plans are based on analysis of facts and data.
- Interfacing with Customer support and Customer teams.
SKILLS and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Engineering education to HNC minimum or equivalent experience, Degree preferred.
- Previous experience in a Quality role.
- Confident and competent communicator with good written and spoken English
- Working knowledge of process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA) and control plans and standard work.
- Experienced 6 Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt preferred, who can demonstrate the implementation of positive business change.
- Leadership to embed new systems and processes and change into existing manufacturing processes.
- Working knowledge of PC packages such as Excel, Word and MS Project.
- A proven background in a Manufacturing/Process orientated environment with exposure to mixed manual and automated facilities.
- Leadership experience of cross functional teams.
- Ability and desire to learn.
