One of the world's leading Automotive manufacturers, established for more than 60 years, is seeking to expand its team of 250 engineers and specialists over the next 2-3 years at its attractive Warwick University based European Technical Centre.

They are currently seeking to recruit a Vehicle Packaging Engineer on a 6 month contract basis.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer for Vehicle Packaging, the individual will be responsible for the following:

- Identification of under-bonnet and underbody mechanical package issues through physical vehicle and DMU review.
- Coordination and leadership of multiple cross-functional teams and Package Engineers to resolve issues identified and ensure mechanical package robustness throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
- Leadership of issues management process and coordination and leadership of regular mechanical package meetings.
- Support implementation of knowledge based toolsets for mechanical package development

ESSENTIAL ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

- Proficiency in Vismockup or similar DMU package.
- Proficiency in Catia V5 or ProE
- Experience in PLM usage/implementation
- Usage of mechanical package tools and methods e.g. engine roll modelling, tyre envelopes, vehicle attitudes
- Requirements and procedures for mechanical package buck build
- Design to minimise complexity
- Minimum of 5 years automotive experience is essential.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- Degree qualified or similar qualification
- Strong numeracy and literacy
- Good logical reasoning
- Demonstrates depth of knowledge in a relevant technical specialty
- Evidence of achieving results through effective leadership of team
- Ability to overcome cultural barriers
- Firm understanding of mechanical package integrity assurance modelling, test, engineering sign off and product launch
- Firm understanding of the interactions between mechanical package and other vehicle attributes e.g. Safety, NVH etc
- Firm understanding of design for serviceability and manufacture
- Working in and leading cross functional teams
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
