A Design Engineer - Test Rig Support is required to work within a small team on design activities at the concept, definitive and detail stage, designing all aspects of test rigs and fixtures for this World leader in the design and manufacture of diesel fuel injection equipment

As the Design Engineer your responsibilities will include:

Creating HD diesel injection test system hardware.
Producing accurate, detailed manufacturing drawings and LOPs.
Liaise with and capture requirements from product development and validation teams.
Plan work activities effectively and support project planning.
Participate in 8D assessments of failures, generate and carry out corrective actions.
Contribute to Total Quality, QS 9000 and continuous improvement activities within department and business.
Focus on completing activities to tight schedules.

The successful applicant will hold a degree in mechanical engineering (or similar) with experience in design of mechanical systems, preferably high precision highly stressed and mass produced components.
You will have good knowledge of proprietary hardware components and suppliers (power transmission, structural and hydraulic).
Proven understanding of the principles of physics and mechanical engineering.
The ability to study a problem, identify appropriate analysis techniques and undertake the analysis or interact with analysis specialists (CFD, FEA).
Thorough understanding of detail drawing and geometric tolerancing.
Must have experience in the use of Excel/Matlab to perform calculations, analysis and simulations.
CAD experience, preferably with Solidworks.
