Salary circa £55k + benefits

Our client based in a semi-rural location base to the north of Wolverhampton manufactures a range of products that are used in many household goods and industrial brands.

This site has gone through a complete transformation and is extremely well run from an engineering and maintenance perspective. The future prospects for this business are excellent, they are part of a successful worldwide group that continues to gain market share. Due to an internal promotion and future succession plans they are now looking to recruit a highly motivated mechanical Maintenance Manager.

The working Environment at this facility is first class with new and refurbished maintenance workshops, stores, repair facilities, rest and eating areas having been completed over the last two years.

The following job titles may be applicable to this role: Maintenance Manager, Works Engineering Manager, Engineering Manager, Site Engineering Manager, Project Engineering Manager, Engineering Team Leader. Commissioning Engineer, Decommissioning Engineer.

Industry experience that will be considered will include: Automotive, Aerospace, Nuclear, Energy, Chemical, Food, General Manufacturing and Heavy Industry.

The Role

Reporting to the Plant Operation Manager you will organise, control, direct and continuously improve the activities of the Maintenance Team, ensuring that all maintenance and departmental capital programmes are delivered to agreed standards and within budgeted cost.

The prime accountabilities of the role will be to ensure that maintenance schedules are delivered to time, plan and specification with the minimum of downtime and most efficient use of maintenance personnel.

Working on a highly efficient process controlled plant you must maintain the value of plant assets in the most cost effective manner and work to identify improvements in operating methods and procedures. In particular maintenance planning will be a critical aspect of the role and you will be required to develop planned preventive and predictive maintenance schedules. As such you will manage external contractors and work with local authorities, the Health and Safety Executive and Environment Agency.

A major aspect of your work will be to drive a cost effective maintenance plan and budget that will utilise existing maintenance employees, contractors and other third parties in the most efficient manner. A working knowledge and understanding of CDM regulations and associated HSE requirements will be required. A further requirement will be an understanding of modern Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

Person Specification

This manufacturing facility is a highly efficient process controlled plant and for this role you will need extensive experience leading and managing a modern forward thinking maintenance department. Knowledge of planned preventive, reliability based maintenance, NDT disciplines and project management experience will be required. As a key member of the senior management team you will motivate staff and drive forward a culture of safety, continuous improvement and increased plant efficiency.

Use of modern problem solving methodologies will be required together with effective management skills and communication.

Qualifications for the role will be to HNC level in Mechanical Engineering, plus associated experience preferably gained in a modern PLC controlled manufacturing environment.
