Our client is an internationally successful defence, security, transport and energy company with a long, consistent track record of development and growth.

Based from their site in Cheltenham and focusing on providing advanced electronic, electromechanical and mechanical solutions for modern vehicle requirements, they are looking for a Digital Electronics Engineer to develop micro-controller solutions for the next generation of military land vehicles.

Personal attributes
-Pro-active and self-motivating with wide-ranging problem solving experience
- Positive attitude with ability to work with multifunction teams on rapidly moving projects
- Expertise in microprocessor / embedded system design including analogue interfacing
- Expertise in schematic capture and design to meet constrained space envelope
- Experience of developing and working to formal requirements
- Experience of network technologies such as CANbus, TTP, Ethernet

Essential skills
- Pro-active design of high speed digital or integrated processor electronics
- Decomposition of requirements to the implementation level
- Work with systems, software and mechanical engineers to ensure successful overall design
- Concept design to meet safety requirements including architectures to provide redundancy, avoidance of common failure modes, failure detection and functional reliability
- Component selection and circuit design to interface processors/microcontrollers to digital networks, digital and analogue signals
- Design to minimize EMC risks and manage thermal effects
- Detail to production standard schematics ready to pass to PCB layout team
- Production of design specifications, design descriptions and test procedures
- Provide technical and cost data to Sales and Marketing Managers during bid preparation
- Provide data for customer review and conduct presentations as required

Additional experience
-Motorola HC12 / MPC555 / Microchip PIC family
- Digital Video design (Switching, routing and manipulation)
- VHDL and FPGA design
- Vetronics or aerospace systems
- DX Designer
- DOORS
- Knowledge of analogue design techniques including filter design and power supply design
