Health and Safety Manager

One of the Worlds leading fully integrated property and infrastructure solution providers are now looking for a Health & Safety Manager to be based in Liverpool.
As the H&S Manager you will maintain and develop health and safety standards throughout all areas of the site providing resource and assistance to construction design and project managers as required.
The main responsibility is to ensure that adequate and effective safety measures are in place throughout the projects and to manage the implementation of relevant safety and environmental legislation. Also have an excellent working knowledge.
The job role will be varied and wide-ranging encompassing all areas of Health, Safety and Environment.
Duties will include undertaking regular inspections and audits and will involve regular contact with the workforce, contractors, professional staff and client, therefore excellent communication skills at all levels is essential. Provide and collate monthly reports.
As the H&S Manager you must be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of safety, ideally gained from a construction background and should be qualified to NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
Worked within the marine heavy civils environment and understands safe working over water procedures and marine legislation for all HS&E matters.
A qualification in Environmental Management would be advantageous as would experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
You will also have extensive experience within a comparable organisation and the skills and hands-on approach to drive an effective occupational health and safety regime across the project.
CMIOSH (or similar associations as a minimum)
The successful candidate must hold a Degree or post graduate level (BA, BSc, MSc) qualification or Diploma (NEBOSH or equivalent e.g. Nottingham Trent, Salford, Aston) in safety or NVQ Level 4 in Occupation H&S Practice.
You will have proven experience in leading a marine H&S team and delivering the highest standards of H&S management.
Experience of the providing H&S support in construction.
Ability to work calmly & authoritatively under pressure, and to guide others’ actions.
Excellent communicator at all levels, ability to make the best possible use of briefings.
Evidence of practical audit/inspection experience (Lead Auditor course).
Innate respect for confidentiality & correct application of procedures & protocols.
Evidence of practical training experience & train the trainer qualification.
Competent in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
Good team leading and working skills in order to get the best from team, colleagues’ & promote good ideas.
