EMC Test Engineer

An exciting new 6 month contract opportunity has arisen for an EMC Test Engineer in the Solihull area of the West Midlands.

The job exists within a dedicated team providing EMC validation and design services for a range of electronic products and systems within 'tier 1' automotive and aerospace businesses. It will involve working closely with internal and external customers to ensure that products comply with various customer specifications and, where applicable, legal requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Setting up and conducting all types of test within the scope of the laboratory,
* Following test specifications and plans, and taking responsibility for the accurate recording of results,
* Checking and calibrating equipment or test chambers
* Supervising and assisting customer staff operating their equipment in the laboratory
* Maintaining log books, collating test data and producing technical reports


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

* Degree or HNC/HND in electronics or physics, or equivalent experience.
* EMC/RF experience in the context of testing.
* A good understanding of RF measurement principles
* A good understanding of modern test and control instrumentation
* Evidence of good communication skills (verbal and written)
* Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure
* Ability to produce clear and accurate reports
* Willingness to work overtime and shift patterns when necessary
* Experience of automotive or aerospace products/systems, preferably from working within one of those industries
* Experience in setting up and conducting EMC tests
* Knowledge/experience of quality systems, ideally UKAS
