Client Information
My client a market leading design and manufacturing company with a global reputation require an experience senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team

Main Duties
The main responsibilities as the Electrical Engineering technical expert, are to support new and existing product development in line with customer requirements and also to provide support to the design, sales and technical teams throughout the full product lifecycle


Job description
- Design and commissioning of equipment
- Specification and selection of appropriate electrical components
- Providing technical support and issue resolution working with the client and project teams
- Assist with new product development, including building and testing of new products and software
- Provide technical leadership to the Electrical Engineering team
- Control the electrical estimated and actual costs
- Clarify any scope of supply issues with the project manager and agree timescales
- Establish direct lines of communication with the client as necessary to discuss/clarify control requirement and confirm any details in the specification.
- Produce control software for proprietary plc software packages as required for the project and also Variable Speed Drive software if required for the project
- Ensure all sub contract work is carried out to the required standards and regulations
- Ensure all project details are accurately entered onto the company document system including project drawings, software and testing documentation and sales quotations
- Ensure all Health and Safety objectives are met (specific standards include HSAWA 1974, LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, CE Marking Directive 1998, and CDM Regs. 2007, Manual Handling Regs. 1992, etc. See quality procedures for complete list)
- Compiling Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Health and Safety Plan documentation and issuing to the relevant people


Key skills and experience
- The successful candidate should be qualified to degree level or equivalent in electrical engineering, or HND level
- Candidates should be proficient with electrical CAD systems, ideally E3
- Be used to working to Industrial Machine standards, i.e. BS EN 60204
- Familiar with Safety of Machinery, Safety Integrity Levels and Risk Assessments.
- Strong experience of electrical power and control systems
- Experience of electrical motor control using variable speed inverter drives
- Have experience of using switchgear
- Candidates should have experience of utilising spreadsheets and MathCad
- Be able to regularly visit client sites, occasionally abroad
