A Brake Refinement Engineer is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

Description
Position Description:
1. Analysis and interpretation of NVH measurement data from CAE, brake dynamometers and vehicles
2. Liaise with key COC`s, vehicle integration & manufacturing to support brake attribute delivery
3. Support vehicle build activities to deliver brake attributes
4. Support brake NVH issue investigation & resolution
5. Support resolution of any wider issues relating to brake attributes.

This role forms part of the brake attributes team and will take direction from the refinement attribute leaders. The person in this role should be prepared for either hands-on work or extensive data-handling as required.

Job Requirements
Skills Required:
An understanding of noise and vibration in mechanical structures and systems is essential. An academic background in NVH is the likely source but extensive vocational experience will also be considered. Ability to communicate with suppliers (tier 1 and below) to achieve results whilst maintaining positive relationships. Fully I.T. literate. A proactive user of I.T. methods for communication and measurement objectivity.

Skills Preferred:
Ability to measure, process, and analyse NVH data using industry standard NVH software packages (LMS Test.Lab, HEAD Artemis, Prosig e.t.c.) would be an advantage. Willingness to support test activities overseas on occasion. A basic understanding of Chassis systems is an advantage that will allow improved communication and negotiation of targets. Self motivated and able to work to a high standard with minimal supervision. Knowledge of NVH in disc brake systems would be a distinct advantage.

Details
Experience Required:
Must have some first-hand system engineering experience with noise/vibration projects in the transportation sector. Some degree of product testing or subjective evaluation experience is required.

Experience Preferred:
Usage of 6-sigma methods for new product development.

Education Required:
Degree or equivalent in a mechanical (or related) discipline.

Education Preferred:
6-sigma training.
