Our client is looking for a leading specialist and point of contact in a science based discipline as a material specialist; focus on steel material, cleanliness of pressing facilities, forming analysis, metallurgical impacts on welding technology and failure analysis.
Responsibilities:
Provides specialist materials technology leadership to all Materials Laboratory related customers and also to execute technical process control of materials related production processes.
Ensure ISO 9000 / 14000 requirements for the Plant and Materials Laboratory are achieved and maintained
Play a significant role in the Development of solutions for containment of problems in co-operation with process partners, suppliers (steel mills) and internal and external laboratories.
Understand and contribute to the elimination of materials related issues in support of Problem Resolution arising from field and performance testing, based upon quality, volume, legislative and cost implications.
Define test plans and carry out material investigations using specialist materials testing and analysis equipment on a range of components, assemblies or processes prioritising and agreeing timing, determining, evaluating and reporting results and recommended actions.
Maintain and improve the laboratory service to meet changes in business requirements by application of best practice and improving existing processes.
The Person
Qualified to HNC or degree level in an appropriate professional institute accredited Materials discipline or relevant experience (working experience in a steel company and/or pressing shop).
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
High degree of self-motivation and reliability.
German language ability (level 3) would be an advantage
Leadership ability, flexible attitude, IT skills essential.
Capable of working alone or in a multi functional team.
In depth knowledge of Problem Resolution Techniques.
Knowledge of Health and Safety and Environmental impacts.
Technical apprenticeship desirable.
