A SPEOS/Optis simulation software Specialist is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in Whitley.

Part of a global organisation, this well established manufacturer of luxury vehicles is currently enjoying success within the market place. They have invested over £200m in new equipment and are at the forefront of modern manufacturing practices.

Job Requirements
Position Description:
Main Role- Specialist Engineer with knowledge of using the SPEOS/Optis simulation software for utilisation in the design process and for technical evaluation of optical components in the automotive industry. This role will run simulation based on CAD geometry to evaluate a number of technical issues and early design feasibility for optical componentry. Report back to the HMI Technical Specialist within Research. Secondary Role- Expert in the software able to give training and disseminate results within the business. Organise work within the SPEOS team.

Skills Required:
Technical knowledge and understanding of optical theory is essential. Understanding of automotive interiors including design aspects, electrical/electronic systems & technologies is desirable. Clear and concise communicator. Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to short timescales & deadlines. Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised within the local team and interfacing across business functions. A working knowledge of the SPEOS optical modelling software written by Optis is essential.

Skills Preferred:
Catia V5 and / or Optical Theory (Physics)

Experience Required:
Understanding optical development process, failure modes associated with optical performance. Some optical design experience would be desirable. Experience on working directly with SPEOS optical modelling tool is essential for this role. Understanding of displays and light sources is required.

Experience Preferred:
Familiarity with premium automotive sector, products and features.

Education Required:
Educated to degree level in a related discipline (Optical Engineering/Physics/Mechanical Engineering/Displays or Opto-Electronics).
