A Manager Vehicle Workshop is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

Our automotive client is a market leader in luxury and high volume off-road vehicles, designing and manufacturing in the Midlands.

Job Requirements
Position Description:
Lead the Gaydon Test Delivery team and manage the facility in terms of Vehicle Workshop, Late Configuration Centre, Palletisation, Engine Test, Transmission Test and Instrumentation. The team consists of 65 hourly paid and 12 salaried team members. In addition to the management of personnel within the team, improving the productivity of the department and the associated test data quality are key goals.

Skills Required:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility, self-motivated and a passion for the role. A good all round engineering and product knowledge with proven leadership / people management skills. A good knowledge of powertrain products, engine test facilities, processes and associated Health and Safety requirements. An intermediate knowledge level in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Planning tools. Previous experience of leading a team and the implementation of lean tools and processes.

Skills Preferred:
A clean full driving licence.

Details
Experience Required:
Previous experience of leading a diverse group of skilled hourly paid and salaried team members. Identify, influence, standardise and deliver process improvement for team and customer interface. Work with other areas within powertrain and PD to achieve planned test and build activities. To provide effective communication to PT management and vehicle teams. To lead specification of process and components to enable powertrain to interface with the facility. Track and lead planning activity for team areas. To lead implementation of efficiency and process improvements. To ensure that Health & Safety practices are adhered to; including delivery of risk and COSHH assessments.

Experience Preferred:
Knowledge of issue diagnosis and rectification on facility and powertrain systems. Knowledge of Engine and Transmission test techniques and methodology.

Education Required:
Degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering discipline.

Education Preferred:
Chartered Engineer
