We require short term contract cover (3 weeks with possible extension) for a CAE engineer.
This position is responsible for conducting a range of CAE simulation tasks, in particular towards structural strength, stiffness, impact, durability and NVH related attributes, specifically focusing on electric steering products. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate competence in the use of the appropriate CAE tools and techniques.
Liaise with, and provide support to the mechanical design teams in the CAE analysis of steering systems and components to ensure compliance with customer specifications and legal requirements.
Creation, analysis, modification, post processing and correlation of mathematical models to test data. Interpretation of results with an eye on improving the design of the product against given design criteria.
Generate work packages and manage LCC CAE engineers to support mechanical design deliveries.
Develop continuous improvement of processes and methodologies through the use of automation (i.e. scripts- Pyton or TCL/TK) and procedures documents.
Close collaboration with other global CAE Teams in Europe and US to share best practice and standards.
Education: Bachelor s degree level qualification in mechanical engineering or equivalent (Master s preferred).
Fundamental 2+ years knowledge of the following FEA software packages:
-Abaqus, MSC/Nastran, HyperWorks and LMS Virtual.Lab.
Basic knowledge of system level dynamic modelling would be advantageous:
- Multi Body Dynamics (MSC/ADAMS, Altair MotionSolve, Recurdyn)
- Matlab/Simulink
Experience in the analysis of chassis components and systems in terms of Noise Vibration and Harshness, Stiffness, Strength and Durability. Knowledge of steering systems would be an advantage.
Knowledge of impact simulation using Pamcrash, LS Dyna, or Radioss would also be desirable.
Ability to work to strict timescales, prioritise projects, and Interpret analysis requests from the design teams.
Team player with the ability to communicate technical information both verbally and in technical reports or presentations to both internal engineering teams and offshore resource teams.
Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies would be advantageous.
