Our Client is a leading supplier of hot finished and cold formed steel products to the construction, engineering, energy, automotive and precision tubing markets. With manufacturing sites and sales offices in the UK and other European countries, they can offer highly focused customer service by providing customers with competitive, quality products.

They are looking to appoint a home based Technical Advisory Engineer, specifically a Steelwork Structural Engineer to provide a technical marketing service, in line with business strategy, to support construction products made by the company.

You will promote innovative, competitive tubular steel solutions, in particular focusing on leading edge technology in all aspects of hollow sections including the following:

  • Structural Hollow Sections
  • Composite Hollow Sections for fire engineering

    You will assist in technical issues to professionals at all levels and will be responsible for the following:
  • assisting in the design plus specification to Engineers, Architects, Contractors and Fabricators;
  • working with professional bodies (SCI, BCSA and CIDECT) to ensure the promotion of tubular design;
  • giving technical presentations and Seminars;
  • writing technical papers for journals;
  • working closely with the Marketing function to update existing, and produce new brochures promoting product usage;
  • assisting in technical specification of hollow sections within conveyance;
  • supporting the commercial function

    Candidates will be:
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic Chartered Structural Engineer, or have proven professional experience in design / fabrication of structural steelwork.
  • Capable of working with a minimum of direction and of meeting deadlines when required (you will be part of a focused technical team and will support your colleagues in achieving the commercial objectives of the company).
  • A working knowledge of the National / European steel design standards is essential.
