The chassis CAD designer role is of significant importance in the delivery of developing and designing a new chassis structure in support of our client s requirements.
Being one the key elements in making the whole programme a success this role involves looking at the existing designs, components and elements with a clear mandate to develop and deliver a ladder based chassis structure that can support the vehicles attributes and performance.
In this role success and sometimes failure comes in equal measure and it can be a unique challenge. however it is always very rewarding both personally and professionally.
Skills and Competencies.

Highly proficient CAD user with 3D visualisation.
Expertise in Catia V5 and TCe trained with good visualisation and engineering skills.
Trained or with a good working knowledge of the Smart Team system and process.
Good visualisation and engineering skills covering specifically , sub frames, ladder frames with rear and front end packaging elements
Objective driven with ability to focus on the solutions rather then just the problem
A working level understanding of Microsoft based systems ( MS office suite etc)
The ability to work autonomously and within a team
A base understanding of risk management
Confident in making data driven decisions
Experience
Can demonstrate a working knowledge of the concept and packaging process of ladder type chassis frames
Has worked with Smart Team systems or has a working knowledge of the protocols and would be prepared to be trained if necessary.
Experienced in releasing parts and developing a BOM (Bill of Material) within the virtual series
Experienced in working with other design teams to ensure integration and package requirements are met.
Worked and operated within an engineering and/or manufacturing environment within either the automotive or aerospace activities industries.
Can demonstrate a flexible approach to the way they work
Experienced at dealing with engineering conflict whilst remaining delivery focused
Used to working within a highly productive team
Used to working with limited supervision
Ideal Knowledge
Working knowledge of ladder based chassis systems and sub-frames
Ford or JLR based design processes and protocols
Working knowledge of OEM and automotive development requirements
Good standard of education and learning relevant to the role ideally at degree level
