Part of a major global aerospace group engineering mechanical aerospace systems, there is an interesting new opportunity for a permanent Chief Metallurgist. This opportunity is in commutable range of Liverpool , Manchester, Warrington and Runcorn. The role could also be called Senior Materials Engineer or Senior Metallurgist. Business is both civil and defence. The role does not entail man management.
The Chief Metallurgist will carry out:
Materials Properties and Performance
Assessment and selection of materials from design perspective
Fatigue, stress loads, weight, cost analysis
Working with both Design and Analysis Engineers.
Climatic and hardness testing.
Metallurgical Investigation.
Control, operation and development of metallurgy lab and facilities
Accelerated life testing and warranty analysis
Metallurgical investigation for In-Service, Customer requests and OE/MRO support
You will have a degree in in Metallurgy or Materials Science and experience of full product life-cycles carrying out metallurgical functions and investigations. You will ideally have experience of fatigue and stress testing, materials(steel, aluminium,nickel,chrome), treatment processes, NDT and Inspection methods. Experience can be in aerospace or any sector.
