Quality Engineer

This client is researching and developing a revolutionary new patented product for the automotive industry. Having grown rapidly since its formation, they have invested $20 Million in their premises in the UK giving them both a new open plan office space equitment with the latest computer technology and a workshop area containing sophisticated test equipment to facilitate product development.
They are currently seeking a Quality Engineer to support this expansion.
Provide input into sourcing of component manufacturing process
Liaise with material procurement to receive all incoming material into goods inwards area, process paperwork and issue parts to inspection, stores or build area
Set up supplier performance reporting system.
Inspection and measurement:
Liaise with engineering team to agree required inspection / measurement regime
Measure / inspect externally supplied and internally manufactured parts in line with requirements
Perform buy off testing on in-house assemblies
Manage any non-conforming material in line with NCR / PICR process
Produce measurement reports
Produce parts quality assurance status reports
Liaise with build and test staff and engineering to ensure that all parts are available when required.
Must have practical workshop, manufacturing and stores management experience
Must be practical and hands-on
Must be able to operate measurement and inspection equipment (Zeiss CMM, Rockwell hardness tester, shadow graph and surface finish measurement equipment)
Must be fully familiar with quality assurance activties (DFMEA, SC and CC, APQP, Part approval etc)
Good analytical skills
Familiar with 8D problem solving
Fully computer literate (MS Office), in particular Excel
