Our client is dedicated to the assembly of small construction machines, typically used on building and construction sites. The role of Packaging Engineer is an entry-level management position.

As Packaging Engineer you will work for the Logistics Department and be responsible for material containerisation, including the management of specialist returnable containers, expendable packaging, and general logistics equipment/ processes. Working closely with Engineering and operations you will ensure timely and effective implementation of new packaging solutions and the role will include design, procurement and repairs to new and existing containers. You will also be responsible for setting your own work priorities to effectively accomplish tasks, assisting in initiating actions and plans to address and resolve simple to moderately complex packaging or logistics issues, analyse and identify the root causes of cost, quality and availability problems, identify and gain participation of team members and other necessary resources needed to accomplish work tasks and assist the supervisor in negotiating plans, strategies and objectives with suppliers, obtaining supervisory approval as needed to execute improvement programs.

Additionally, you would be responsible for packaging design, material handling-part protection and quality standards, point of use material replenishment strategies, planning for every part, manual handling, standard work processes creation and updating and risk assessments creation and updating.

It is essential you have a college degree or equivalent experience and a general knowledge with interest in material packaging/management processes, manufacturing operations and processes, procurement methodology and a working knowledge of information systems. You must be able to effectively communicate and work with all levels both inside and outside the company, be able to work on your own initiative, have a full UK driving License and be able to read engineering drawings. General material handling experience is required and you must also be able to set up and manage containerisation project plans. Experience in Autocad/Pro E, Microsoft Excel, Access preferred.
