The company, a major employer of engineering skills in the North West, exports a large percentage of its production to European Community Markets. The business`s future success and development is dependent upon the application of leading-edge information technology in all aspects of design, manufacture, procurement and logistics.
We are recruiting for a SENIOR SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER, who`s main duties and responsibilities will include :
To initiate APQP multi-functional teams.
To co-ordinate PPAP activities at the supplier and manage into plant.
To initiate supplier / launch readiness reviews and quality plans.
To facilitate, prioritise, train and support in supplier corrective action meetings and reviews.
To measure and analyse trends and performance at the supplier and the plant to reduce potential issues.
To develop the supplier base by using Six Sigma and Lean techniques.
To liaise with the group to develop integration activities with the supply base.
To be business aware and predict industry trends.
To analyse and audit processes and parts at suppliers premises.
To complete root cause analysis programmes to plant satisfaction.
This is a Field-Based role with the potential for extensive travel both within and outside of the UK. The UK base is commutable from Preston, Blackburn, Manchester, Liverpool and the surrounding areas.
Experience and Qualifications
A working knowledge of supplier process management and controls, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and supporting programmes.
Measurement system analysis, Statistical measurement and trend analysis aware (MSA, SPC and PFMEA).
Degree qualified or working towards.
Six Sigma awareness.
Internal and external experience of qualification in auditing systems and capabilities.
Capable of effective decision making at the Manufacturing base and the supplier.
Skilled / experienced in root cause analysis and poka yoke.
Confident to discuss, enforce and recommend concerns, solutions and constraints at the highest level.
Willing to travel on a regular basis and prepared to spend time away from home.
Needs to be an accomplished finisher of tasks and objectives.
Excellent presentation skills.
PC literate.
Dynamic with a determination to succeed and the ability to progress into SQA management.
