The company is a leading supplier of products to the construction, engineering, energy, automotive and precision tubing markets. With manufacturing sites and sales offices in the UK and other European countries, they can offer highly focused customer service by providing customers with competitive, quality products.

They are looking to appoint a Project Manager to provide project control on all contracts secured using added value processes at the company manufacturing facilities. This will involve the management of subcontracts including that portion associated with internal manufacturing activities across concurrent projects at various stages of maturity. The company manufactures products that are in an increasingly competitive market with pressure from overseas producers in the developing world. They have recognised this and understand that in order to survive and thrive, they need to deliver a differentiated product offering at the leading edge of technology. This position ensures that all projects undertaken that involve activity in addition to standard operations are adequately controlled.

The principle accountabilities of this role are:

  • Liaise with sales teams, manufacturing and subcontractors to ensure that projects are delivered on-time, on budget and within the agreed terms and conditions.
  • Manage contract variations to minimise extra-budgetary expenditure and maximise revenue opportunities.
  • Manage contract negotiations and hand-over from sales team upon commencement of final contract negotiations.
  • Implement and manage an ISO 9001 project and document management system to ensure the delivery of added value activities that lie outside the provisions of existing quality systems
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting of progress on projects within the management team and customer The jobholder will be degree qualified or equivalent and have experience in the management of projects, preferably within the manufacturing sector.

    This jobholder should be experienced in implementing contract law within the management of large industrial manufacturing and construction projects.

    The jobholder will need to be an effective project manager and have an understanding of project, quality and HSE requirements in the energy industries.

    The job will require an awareness of engineering and the challenges that face energy clients as well as those experienced in pipe manufacture and installation.

    The jobholder should be an experienced negotiator capable of working with internal and external customers

    The jobholder should be capable of identifying potential project opportunities to enhance the offering of the company and be capable of communicating and promoting the requirements to members of the management team.
