Our client is a leader in design, manufacture and support of world leading turbo chargers and associated equipment.

Due to growth plans a position of Component Engineer has become available, and as such we welcome applicants who want a fresh challenge, and meet the requirements below

Specifically this will involve:

  • Working with external suppliers and customers to specify, design, analyse and validate Mechanical and pneumatic components, such as: Mechanical transmissions, gears, linkages, joints and high temperature wear resistant components such as VGT shroud, yoke, bushes and wear blocks.
  • Working with functional teams within Cummins Turbo Technologies to integrate the mechanism components into the turbocharger.
  • Managing component design validation including working with test facilities to execute tests.
  • Developing and maintaining component design and analysis information, including specifications and drawings, DFMEA s, stress and modal frequency analysis and Dimensional Variation Analysis.
  • Failure mode investigation and corrective action.
  • Developing and maintaining component development time plans.
  • Reporting and presenting progress in technical, management and customer reviews.
  • Working with Purchasing to develop component cost models. Qualified to degree or equivalent level in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline, you should ideally have an automotive components background and be able to demonstrate:
  • Design and analysis of mechanisms
  • Familiar with dynamic analysis using Matlab/Simulink
  • Mechanical drafting and tolerancing
  • Familiarity with temperature-resistant, corrosion and wear resistant materials
  • Automotive product development cycle
  • Familiarity with the functional requirements and operational environment requirements of the turbocharger would be an advantage.
