Cleanroom and Packaging Team Leader
Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, England
£35k per year

KEY TASKS:

Organisational
  • Support Management in the smooth & effective running of the manufacturing facility.
  • Maintain all ancillary actives as required by the Quality Procedures. 
  • Achievement of KPI targets for, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Versatility
  • Promotes a “Visual Management” method of communication with the Team and others
  • Communicates by “exception” risk and/or concerns in time to allow recovery action planning
  • Ensures all company procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and work instructions
  • Deals with constraints or secures support/assistance of the Operations Management
  • Pull production from internal sections in order to be a “good supplier” to “internal customers” 
  • Tasks maintenance to ensure plant/equip is maintained/serviced in line with requirements.
  • Promote high level of housekeeping throughout manufacturing environment to 5S standard.
  • Control & supervision of overtime working by prior agreement with the Operations Management
  • Small tool and Consumable purchases within control limits set and annual the budget
  • Ensures tools and technique are developed to “best practice” working with Prod. Engineers
  • Handle, store and dispose of all cleaning and other chemicals as controlled by the COSHH regulations.
  • To ensure that all clean room monitoring is carried to maintain clean room compliance
  • To ensure that minimum stock levels of all materials required for the effective operation of all ancillary activities are maintained.
  • Liaise with Designers to ensure “design for manufacture” requirements are practiced 
  • Familiar with lean principles & tools such as 5S, process mapping etc
  • Perform other production activities as and when required
Man Management
  • Monitor, control and authorisation of attendance, holidays, sickness and absence
  • Daily team briefs, weekly team meetings
  • Effective change over shift meetings and written communication logs
  • Responsible for ensuring operators are trained & training requests are actioned
  • Versatility skills matrix's are updated at least monthly
  • Participates and supports continuous improvement teams and other working groups
  • Carries out timely Probationary, Performance and Appraisal reviews
  • Conducting disciplinary meeting to written warning stage with HR support
  • Return to work and counselling interviews
  • Performance capability and conduct reviews are carried out
  • Identify manning requirements within budget and fluctuations in customer requirements
  • Carries out interviews to support recruitment process
Quality
  • Understands and fully complies with quality and business procedures
  • Makes suggestions and recommendations to improve QCD, H&S
  • Fully supports and complies with the Calibration procedure
  • Ensure clear identification of scrap & reject materials and follows the company procedure
  • Assist in development of operating procedures for Quality & Regulatory Authority systems
  • Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and work instructions

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications or Functional Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years processing & packing experience, gained within a cleanroom environment.
  • Ideally NVQ level 3 qualified with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role

System or Knowledge

  • Able to work with IT systems and possess a reasonable level of PC literacy.
  • Experience of working in a Quality Environment
  • Experience of working with Lean tools such as 5S, Standard work, OEE etc
