Vehicle Aerodynamics Integration Principal Engineer

Based on a very attractive University campus, this Centre of Excellence is building on its growing reputation for Electric Vehicle (EV) development. It has plans to expand it operation and increase the number of talented Engineers and Specialists it employs, working on new projects incorporating cutting edge technologies. This has created an opportunity for an Aerodynamics Engineer to join the team. This role based in Coventry commutable from Birmingham, Warwick, Leicester, Gaydon, Milton Keynes, Leamington, Northampton.
You will work on vehicle programmes in the area of aerodynamics and aero-acoustics. The job includes the following responsibilities:-

• Support the program team in the generation of aerodynamic targets and provide design guidelines for Design and Component areas.
• Liaise with other engineering functions to promote aerodynamic issues
• Conduct wind tunnel tests to determine aerodynamic characteristics, investigate shape changes for aerodynamic improvement and optimisation, and assess the performance of aerodynamic aids
• Conduct wind tunnel tests to measure pressure distributions, for component loading, cooling airflow and to assess water management
• Support chassis in assessing aerodynamic stability and NVH in aero-acoustic testing
• Analysis of test data and for issuing reports on wind tunnel tests and on general aerodynamic issues.
  Candidate requirements:
• Degree qualified with a proven track record of working within the automotive industry.
• Have a good understanding of fluid mechanics principles, and experience of CFD application to road vehicles with an awareness of aero-acoustic test methods.
• Ideally Chartered or working towards or working toward this status.
• Have extensive wind tunnel test experience and a good understanding of wind tunnel testing processes.
• Experience on aerodynamics for passenger vehicles.
• Large / Full Scale model experience
