We seek a Process Control Engineer for an initial 6 month contract based in Peterborough.

THE COMPANY:

Perkins Engines is part of the UK Caterpillar Group located in Peterborough. They are the leading supplier of off-highway diesel and gas engines for the agricultural, material handling, general industrial and construction sectors.

THE ROLE:

Responsible for contributing leadership and expertise as part of a continuous quality improvement process for Caterpillars supply base in the execution of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and the implementation of process control.
Also responsible for suppliers processes from cradle to grave in the product life, validating process capability and managing project plans and activities to ensure compliance with Caterpillar expectations, while adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse global organization. Working with suppliers to ensure that robust process controls are in place to prevent nonconformities, Continuously monitoring suppliers key manufacturing processes and quality management system for improvement opportunities, supporting Caterpillar 6 Sigma initiatives with suppliers, Assisting suppliers with APQP activities to ensure production readiness for New Product Introducing (NPI), helping suppliers to reduce waste and extract value from these activities, Providing technical support during start-up activities, and Ensuring resolution and implementation of robust solutions for quality problems associated with purchased materials and engineering issues.

THE PERSON:

University degree in engineering or equivalent education/experience required and significant engineering experience required. A Quality Engineering certification - preferred.
A background in Engineering or manufacturing, plus familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies, A thorough understanding of quality initiatives, Knowledge of shop operations, Ability to use and demonstrate statistical and problem solving tools, Willingness to as needed, and ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal, analytical, leadership, and project management skills to develop close working relationships with others both inside and outside Caterpillar - preferred.
