REQUIREMENTS: Your role wil be to develop simulation software tools and capability to assist in the development of variable-ratio transmissions systems and sub-systems. Modelling areas to include: full (lumped parameter) vehicle models, variator dynamic models, tribological contact models and variator geometrical effects. Also to support design studies using such tools.

Your responsibilities will be:
-Generation of software algorithms for the assisting with transmission system design and parametric studies
-Generation of models to represent variator dynamics, hydraulic systems, transmission control (including basic engine control), variator contact (traction) models, variator geometry
-Performing design studies
-Dynamic simulation of transmission systems during vehicle manoeuvres
-Test design, supervision / coordination of test work (if required), validation of test results using simulation
DESCRIPTION: This client is researching and developing a revolutionary new patented product for the automotive industry. Having grown rapidly since its formation, they have invested $20 Million in their premises in the UK giving them both a new open plan office space equitment with the latest computer technology and a workshop area containing sophisticated test equipment to facilitate product development.
This role is based in Lancashire, close to the M6, M65, M61and is commutable from Chorley, Wigan, Preston, Blackburn and Southport.

-A firm grasp of engineering principles and concepts
-Excellent ability to apply engineering principles to real-world situations
-Conceptual thinker
-Mathematical thinker
Ideally Qualified with:
Ideally a 2nd class division (i) degree in physical sciences / engineering
(or higher qualification)

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
-Extensive experience in MATLAB programming
-Extensive experience of dynamic simulation (Simulink)
-Experience of Mathworks Real Time Workshop
-Experience in variable ratio transmissions and control an advantage
-Ability to programme in C beneficial
-Good technical English an advantage
-Competent with Microsoft packages: Word, Excel, Powerpoint
