Principle Engineer - Cabin Trim
Commutable from Coventry, Birmingham, Leicester, Warwick, Stratford, Northampton, Milton Keynes
Established in 2005 this Centre of Excellence for vehicle and powertrain development is located on a very attractive university campus employing more than 250 Engineering Specialists. The Centre offers talented Automotive Engineers and Managers the opportunity to work on a wide range of passenger car and commercial vehicle projects in a highly professional environment with excellent prospects for career development and progression. Over £85 million has been invested in the Centre since its foundation and it continues to grow and create new opportunities. Located close to the Warwickshire countryside the Centre is commutable from Coventry, Birmingham, Leicester, Warwick, Stratford, Northampton, Milton Keynes.
An opening now exists for an experienced Cabin Trim Principal Engineer to join the team. A very competitive salary, car allowance and benefits package is on offer.
The main activities and tasks for this job are to:
- Take responsibility for leading the development of Cabin Trim systems on a "Proof of Concept" vehicle
- Develop the design concept sheets to enable cost planning and concept development of Cabin Trim parts / systems to progress
- Work with nominated Cabin Trim prototype parts suppliers to ensure all parts are production representative and meet attribute targets
- Support cross-function reviews with Styling, Engineering and Suppliers to ensure all Cabin Trim targets are met and issues resolved
- Ensure all Cabin Trim parts are released in line with the agreed ETRS to meet part manufacture and build schedule
- Following Cabin Trim part / system manufacture lead the build of the Cabin Trim onto the proof of concept vehicle.
Candidate ideal core requirements are:
- A Degree or similar qualification
- Strong numeracy and literacy
- A minimum of 5 years automotive, defence or aerospace experience
- Good logical reasoning
- Able to demonstrate depth of experience in Interior Cabin Trim design and development
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Chartered or working toward it
- The ability to inspire the team to strive for improvements and high customer service
- Have evidence of achieving results through effective leadership of a team
- Able to translate business plan into individual objectives for staff
- Capable of managing a group of engineers and support Lead Engineers in the delivery of performance objectives
- Ability to overcome cultural barriers
- UK based with occasional overseas travel in 2012
- More regular travel may be required post 2012
