We are looking for Assembly Technicians with a background in BIW (assembly or closures) required for a contract until the end of the year, there are 2 roles is working for a leading Tier 1 automotive firm in Birmingham and an immediate starts, one covering sickness (mid Nov) and the other until the end of the year.

The roles are reporting to the maintenance supervisors and are PLC (Siemens S7 or Allen Bradley) and ABB/Kuka robots based, with a bias towards PPM and TPM. The main elements of the job will include:
- Coordination of Programme Gateways, tracking status of deliverables and collating Gateway evidence packs for advance distribution.
- Monitor and progress resolution of actions from the status meeting.
- Collate and report to the Programme Manager on Product Letter responses.
- Develop commodity plans that deliver releases at the appropriate programme point and correct pedigree parts for vehicle builds.
- Identify and plan release points and create an appropriate Engineering Timing Release Schedule.
- Monitor commodity plans and act on deviations to establish and recommend appropriate recovery actions.
- Assist in target setting/balancing and management of cost, quality timing and function.
- Lead BOM to CAD alignment exercise and Virtual Series events as primary point of contact for Programme.
- Create and define the overall programme timing plan integrating commodity plans, launch plans and build points.
- Support programme cost reviews, cost down / cost saving activities.
- Manage concern resolution including administration of the change management system, concern metrics and reporting. Review with the Programme Manager and escalate to the Chief Platform Manager as appropriate.
- Act as stand-in for the Programme Manager when required.
- Support PMT / PMST meetings as required acting as the voice of the Programme.
- Work with the relevant departments to plan and execute prototype builds including number of vehicles, specification, BOM, and prototype commodity plans to ensure builds are fit for purpose.
- Lead minor model programmes including financial and delivery responsibility.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Automotive or Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
- Whole vehicle or complex system programme coordination / management experience.
- Extensive knowledge of product development / creation systems.
- Experience in component design, development and sign off.
- Expert user of Microsoft Office tools particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
- Confident and authoritative presentation skills.

This role forms part of the Assembly Maintenance Team and is primarily responsible for ensuring preventative maintenance on the assembly line to ensure production delivery. The firm we are working with is a very busy Tier 1 automotive supplier and the role is shift based. You'll need to have experience of maintenance within a high volume environment, ideally in automotive (automated assembly processes) with PLC experience (Siemen's S7). This is a press shop environment so you must be happy working in this environment.

The position is bias towards TPM working with both reactive and planned maintenance updating their specialist software system as and when required. You'll be assisting in TPM training to other staff members and be encouraged to mentor more junior members of staff also.

A degree is not a pre requisite for this role but you must be qualified to at least ONC level (Mechanical or Electrical bias) or be a time served apprentice and experienced gained in both mechanical and electrical would be very helpful. Working at height is preferred (scissor lift or cherry picker) and a valid FLT license is desirable, although by no means a pre requisite.

This is working in a very busy environment and this is set to continue for 2012 and into 2013, on offer is a permanent salary plus generous shift allowance. The role is based on a 3 shift pattern to include nights so you must feel comfortable with these hours.

This is a maternity cover opportunity between November 2012 and December 2013.

The individual will be responsible for the following:

* Interface with, monitor and manage providers to deliver all aspects of the contract pertaining to Assets, Equipment, Systems, Services under the responsibility of the Controls Engineer.

* Weekly meetings with the provider following the set agenda in relation to Assets, Equipment, Systems, Services under the responsibility of the Controls Engineer.
* Maintain the various detailed information spreadsheets as a source of information into the Monthly Contract reports.
* Agree with the provider the information content and overall performance status illustrated in each Monthly report.
* Regularly audit the Provider adherence to processes within the contract specification.
* Options identification, evaluation and proposal justification on all Project requirements
* Ensure Legislation and Regulation requirements are adhered to in all Maintenance and Project Management activities.

Specifically, their Medical and Science Business Unit is focussed on the delivery of strong business growth through the development and sales of tested RF sub-systems. This will be achieved primarily through the application of skills and technologies developed to address the
radiotherapy, cargo scanning and science markets and with the addition of personnel with systems based skills.

In order to support this growth strategy, our Client must continue to provide profitable, high performance components, excellent technical
support and to develop or select from third party vendors, new products to meet the changing requirements in these very demanding markets.

The role of Product Manager is key to this growth strategy and will have a direct impact on profitability, revenue and reputation. The
success of the role will be measured by the profitability of the product portfolio under his / her control and through feedback from internal and
external customers.

Working with the Market Manager and with an understanding of RF systems, and their components and an appreciation for the applications, you will identify the systems, products and solutions required to meet requirements of the 3-Year plan for the radiotherapy and cargo scanning markets.

You will also have:

  • specific responsibility for defining R&D programmes to support the product road map
  • will also work closely with project managers, the engineering team and market manager to determine project scope and objectives to meet customers current and future needs
  • maintain a balanced, profitable portfolio
  • manage the introduction and withdrawal of products and related services

During a product’s life cycle, you will have responsibility for the control and reduction of design related costs and with the control and reduction of costs related to warranty and repairs.

Essentially:

  • High level technical understanding and familiarity with RF components and systems.

  • Customer management and requirements capture
  • Management of diverse (non-reporting) teams, including internal and external resources
  • Knowledge of export control regulations would be beneficial
  • Broad commercial understanding
