My client a market leading design and manufacturing company with a global reputation require an experience senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team

Main Duties
The main responsibilities of the post holder included producing and planning daily work schedules, allocate staff and resources and supervise their activities for the design team to ensure projects run to schedule


Job description
- Effective designs of Crane and hoist components and structures
- Technical specifications for materials and components in line with customer specification
- Stress analysis / Dynamic analysis of new components
- Approving designs and creating manufacturing plans
- Design and maintain computer design software/programmes in Excel
- Overall responsibility for company technical procedures and standards
- Interpret client specifications from sales or contract stages, including high levels of client liaison
- Commissioning, troubleshooting and problem solving
- Prepare cost effective proposals for quotation purposes


Key skills and experience
- Design role in similar materials handling environment, working on all areas including concept and detail designs
- Mechanical/Structural Engineering/Applied Maths degree or equivalent industry experience
- Experienced 3D solid modeller, ideally with solidworks or pro engineer experience
- Experienced in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- A good understanding of electrical principles and manufacturing processes, particularly steel fabrications, structures and mechanical power transmission equipment
- Experience of working to engineering standards and international codes of practice
