We are looking for a Cost Engineer who has a background in manufacturing and in particular steel fabrication or manufactured products. This is a very friendly medium sized firm with its roots in the Midlands, they design, manufacture and produce key components for several industries including rail, public sector and manufacturing machining.

The role is to work from BOM stage onwards (they will be compiled by the Design Engineers) with a particular emphasis to develop their in-house costing and management systems, you must feel comfortable using your pervious experience to make recommendations to enhance the productivity of the system used. You'll be performing detailed cost analysis of already running products, whilst looking at alternative arrangements or suppliers. This role is heavily based on the change and redevelopment of current systems, rather than a complete overhaul and the introduction of a new way of working.

The position will involve day-to-day liaison with the Team Leaders, Production, Manufacturing and R and D, advice will be expected from you in relation to resources that are needed by the firm to hit their targets whilst reporting on day-to-day problems. A strong problem solving ability and lean background is required as well as experience from a steel fabrication or metal manufacturing industries, Excel proficient and a very strong background in numeracy.
