A degree qualified Principal Engineer (Design) is required for this automotive company based in Gillingham to assist with the development of initial concepts through to the 'proof-of-concept' stage for new generations of fuel injection equipment. He or she will be responsible for overall design content from concept through to detailed component drawings, and will at times will be required to direct drafting/design detailer(s). The person will also be responsible for FEA analysis and other modelling either directly or through the utilisation of department or other organisation resources.

The role is to design new high pressure diesel fuel pumps/injectors and related components.
Lead the design of new generation products through the vision of customer/client requirements and the use of innovative concepts that provide competitive advantage in performance, cost and quality.
Apply FEA / Amesim / Fluent and other relevant numerical analysis tools for the design and optimisation of the product.
Apply ICIM methods using DOE's, 6 Sigma, Green Y and other statistical tools to achieve design robustness. (Training will be provided to fill current gaps in experience level).

The ideal candidate will have solid experience of design and development engineering with experience of developing / supporting a product successfully through to volume production.
Must understand and apply physics to the design.
Experience in Gasoline or Diesel fuel system components preferred
Ability to develop and present technical presentations to customers and others.
SolidWorks CAD experience / FEA analysis / Amesim modelling preferred

The successful applicant must be willing to travel for training, work with customers and for problem resolution on projects as necessary.
