Development Engineer - Automotive - Kent - £Neg

A leading automotive engineering company based in Kent now require an engineering degree qualified Development Engineer to assist in the design, develop tests and perform tests, write test reports and analyse and present results associated with the development of a low cost common rail diesel pump.

Experience with diesel engines and full cycle engineering design projects is required along with effective project leadership and analytical skills.
Previous experience/training in 6 Sigma would be advantageous.
Experience of applying Shainin or similar problem solving techniques.

The Development Engineer responsibilities include but not limited to:

-Development of technical features for new common rail high pressure pump.
-Developing full proofed solution to ensure that the pumps, and its components properties, are in line with the final application requirements.
-Working with a multi-functional team to ensure solution meets technical specification, customer requirements and compatible with DDS manufacturing and purchasing standards.
-The mission will comprise of short term actions and long term development where robust design and flawless launch objectives have to be kept in line.
-Statistical tools and methodologies (6 Sigma, Green Y, Red X, DOE) to be applied during the development of the product.

This position involves travel therefore the successful candidate must be able and willing to travel to manufacturing sites (France, Spain, and Romania).
