A Development Engineer is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in the West Midlands.

Description
Position Description:
The Development Engineer leads functional validation, issue resolution and delivery of the relevant DV activity for a particular engine program to support engineering sign-off, including testing on vehicles and rigs. They will be the key interface between the design group and test facilities directing specific development / durability activities and feeding the results back to the relevant customers ensuring results are delivered on time. They are involved in future product definition and are also responsible for test definition, maintaining the relevant test procedures.

Job Requirements
Skills Required:
Self driven with a strong engineering background, excellent team working skills and a working knowledge of engine management systems. Understanding of Product Development processes, GPDS principles, instrumentation and test facilities is desirable.

Skills Preferred:
Good analytical skills & PC skills Excel, Word and Project. Working knowledge of gasoline and / or diesel engine, powertrain systems and calibration. Disciplined approach on problem resolution, and records keeping. Must have a driving license valid for use in the UK.

Experience Required:
Demonstrate the ability to lead the resolution of technical and process issues within a team environment. Good communication, interpersonal skills and self confidence are personal qualities needed to succeed, being self motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision.

Experience Preferred:
Previous experience of Engine and Powertrain systems are considered desirable. A knowledge of vehicle systems would be beneficial.

Education Required:
Educated to degree level in a suitable engineering discipline, or suitable previous experience.
