Test & Validation Engineer

An exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team responsible for planning, coordinating and reporting validation and performance testing of Electric Power Steering systems to ensure that they comply with internal, customer and legal requirements.
The Test and Validation Department work closely with the product engineering teams to verify and validate steering products from initial concept designs through to product launch. Analysing test results and reporting product compliance to legal, dependability and safety requirements within the timescales required by the customer and engineering teams is extremely challenging and requires the ability to work under pressure and control multiple synchronous activities, whilst retaining a professional and objective attitude.
What you ll do
Managing and supporting the efficient throughput of test samples, from receipt through to completion and reporting of tests, to meet customer deadlines.
Taking responsibility for the accurate recording of product behaviour, performance or condition during and after test, collating test data and producing clear and professional technical reports.
Working closely with customers to develop and understand test requirements, and to assist in the resolution of test failures through investigative work.
Maintaining, upgrading and verifying the performance of existing test equipment and working with suppliers to design, specify and define requirements of test rigs and fixtures.
Creating, reviewing and accurately following test specifications and timing plans.
Using problem solving methodologies to investigate anomalies or faults and implement corrective actions
What we are looking for
Essential:
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related subject,
Thorough understanding of modern test, monitoring and control instrumentation.
Operational experience with good leadership, planning and communication skills, and the ability to adapt to rapidly varying work requirements.
An excellent ability to produce clear and accurate technical reports.
Conscientious self-starter with attention to detail, accuracy and record-keeping.
Computer literacy: Fully conversant with standard PC applications, such as Word, Excel, Project, etc.
A professional attitude to work and willingness to take responsibility for results.
Desirable:
Over 3 years practical experience in a controlled Test, Validation or Prototype Production environment.
Sound knowledge and experience of test standards and quality systems such as ISO17025 and TS16949. Ideally with experience in a UKAS Accredited facility.
Good understanding of test theory, Weibull analysis, statistical analysis and product reliability.
Knowledge of Labview, Matlab or Canape would be advantageous.
