The Role
An exciting opportunity to join a world-class global purchasing team responsible for $560M annual spend on a variety of electronics components. One of the world s largest producers of electric steering systems, braking system and safety system, supplying a wide range of vehicle manufacturers including VW, Ford, GM, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault and Fiat.
This role is part of the Commodity Group Electronics, in the Commodity Micro/ASICs and reports to the Global Commodity Manager. It drives the execution of the Sourcing strategies and creates and executes the savings short term and long term plan.
What you ll do
Responsible for strategic sourcing of assigned commodity parts
Manage supply base to include renewal of agreements and assisting suppliers in problem solving and tracking corrective actions
Conduct supplier assessments for potential new suppliers.
Gather and analyse supplier data to prepare analysis and recommendation for supplier selection, with focus on sourcing in low-cost countries
Work with suppliers to develop continuous improvement plans and metrics to monitor performance
Develops and executes sourcing strategies and prepares monthly reports to track and show sourcing strategy and progress, including achievement of spend reduction targets
Interface with internal customers on critical supplier issues as necessary
Participate, as needed, and effectively interact with other Purchasing employees, departments and/or manufacturing plant personnel
Some travel, globally or regionally depending on assigned commodities
Provide advise/guidance to Buyers or Senior Buyers within the Commodity or Global Purchasing function and/or lead special projects as assigned by senior leadership
What we are looking for
Essential:
Minimum of eight experience within direct purchasing or equivalent experience, including experience negotiating with suppliers and managing the supply base post-negotiations
Bachelor s degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering or related area.
Prior experience with global or regional sourcing processes/decision making
Demonstrated performance in working cross-functionally and/or within a matrixed organization and working independently to obtain results
Able to independently troubleshoot issues/concerns and determine course of action
Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical and leadership skills.
Desirable:
Prior purchasing experience involving spend in excess of $50 million
Asian languages skills would be an advantage.
Six Sigma certification or similar continuous improvement training/certification highly desired.
