Product Design Engineer

A successful manufacturing company based in Essex are now looking for a Product Design Engineer to take material from the raw sheet metal state through to fully wired architectural commercial light fittings.

As the Product Design Engineer your key skills will be:

Experienced CAD / CAM engineer, familiar with sheet metal fabrication (steel and aluminium) using Radan software is essential.
Understanding of production tooling, equipment and processes to realise new designs, able to challenge engineering designs and offer alternative design for manufacturing solutions.
Technical background with an understanding of lighting and electrical concepts.
Uncompromising approach to achieving excellence in product quality and customer service.
Clear understanding of materials, best practice purchasing, consolidation in design.
Able to work to strict time constraints.
Assisting within the company to drive continuous improvement programmes.
Able to convey immediate, credible proposals when handling high level meetings with customers.
Self motivator, with strong planning, analytical and organisational skills.
Confident interpersonal skills, working in teams, influencing and negotiating.
As the Product Design Engineer you will understand the customer brief and design lighting products (components, louvres, complete luminaires) using Radan software for release to production.
Work within a small engineering team to design cost effective products. To form part of the team developing appropriate value engineering programmes.
Drive forward continuous improvement in the pursuit of quality, reliability and customer satisfaction
Work closely with sales office administrator and Production Manager to ensure delivery targets are achieved.
Manage a wide and varied number of design projects.
