Senior Contracts and Purchasing Officer
Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England
£15 - 20 per hour

Our client is a leading independent provider of product engineering, research, testing information and certification to the worldwide automotive industry and is based in Warwickshire.

Due to recent business growth there is a need to strengthen the Contracts and Purchasing team. Therefore, a new contract opportunity has arisen for a Senior Contracts and Purchasing Officer, offered for 3 months minimum.

Reporting to the Contracts and Purchasing Manager, the individual will be responsible for a full range of purchasing activities including:

- Identifying categories of spend i.e. groupings, specify exact needs and consider complexity reduction, e.g. standardisation.
- Determining sourcing policies for categories of spend.
- Sourcing and evaluating key suppliers.
- Determining appropriate methods, best practice, processes and policies for managing categories of purchase to minimise transaction costs, optimise value, minimise risk
- Producing appropriate bid documentation e.g. ITT or RFQ and invite offers e.g. e-tendering.
- Evaluating offers e.g. weighted and ranked criteria, cost analysis/ modelling, risk analysis.
- Negotiate terms and conditions of contract.
- Agree service levels, descriptions and schedules.
- Rate and monitor supplier`s performance
- Provide project commercial support.


Essential Requirements:

- Part qualified Graduate Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
- Experience of procurement within an engineering environment.
- Typically, 3/5 years post qualification experience.
- An understanding of contract law.

Preferred Requirements:

- Graduate Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
- Experience of large capital projects and indirect purchasing.
- A working knowledge of construction contracts.
- Experience of contracting for MOD, research, aerospace and construction.
- Working knowledge of MRP

- Ability to work unsupervised but with direction.
- Ability to communicate well both written and orally.
- Effective negotiation, analytical, and evaluation skills together with sound commercial awareness.
- Self motivated with planning, organising and communication abilities and the ability to work to exacting deadlines
