Vehicle Lighting Engineer
Warwick, Cumbria, England

Our client is a World renowned manufacturer of luxury sports cars; its name is well known and needs little introduction. Its people are passionate about the cars they produce and it s a great place to work. Its cars are truly special they always have been and always will be. The sports cars will continue to be hand-built and bespoke but the company also use the latest high technology processes and leading edge disciplines in a very modern environment. It is profitable, growing in a rapid but controlled manner and moving into new global markets. As a result it is seeking to add to the Vehicle Lighting Team.
Responsible to the Principle Engineer Electrical/Electronic Engineering, the position will embrace some or all of the following functions in a true simultaneous engineering environment:

  • Product Engineering/Development.
  • Ownership of design and/or development of exterior and interior lighting components from concept to production to meet program functional, cost, timing, quality, weight and legislative requirements.
  • Utilising CAD tools to design and interrogate commodity CAD produced by the supplier. Primary CAD tool is NX (IDEAS).
  • Lead engineering and design reviews to develop the commodity requirements.
  • Supplier liaison and management.
  • Component Releasing , Change Control and Concern management.
  • Completion of DFMEA, Lessons Learnt documents.
  • Control of Design Verification Plans and Sign off Report
  • Prototype parts procurement and prototype vehicle build support (supervision of build technicians)
  • Development testing as required
  • PMST leadership of responsible components - Service, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Legislation, STA etc
  • Ensuring that robust commodity plans are created and managed to deliver the commodities
  • Relevant equivalent experience in the delivery of lighting components.
  • Team player, Enthusiastic, Motivated, Self-starter, Results orientated.
  • An ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Min 5 years in mainstream automotive engineering (CAD design, Product Engineering or Development).
  • Electrical / Electronic engineering design / development experience of current lighting systems
  • A working knowledge of current design and development tools
