Control Systems Engineer - Transmissions

Xtrac Ltd is a world leading supplier of high performance transmissions, they require a Control Systems Engineer for their advanced engineering group. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company that for over two decades has ensured that customers from all sectors meet, or even exceed, their targets by drawing on their unique blend of design, engineering and manufacturing capabilities. Specialising in Transmission Technology, supplying the Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Marine and Motor Sports Sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for the specification, installation, commissioning, calibration and support of transmission control systems in conventionally powered, hybrid and electric road and race vehicles.
To provide day to day control system and electronics support to the engineering group.
To prepare project specifications, budgets and timescales to the Head of RandD.
To undertake research, tests, evaluations, and calibration to control systems and test instrumentation.
To create test procedures, analyse, calculate and interpret data and produce written reports for internal and external customers.
To work within the RandD team and advise project teams on requirements whilst providing technical support to multiple programmes.
To use control based languages and routines relevant for the operation and analysis of transmission systems.
Establish, maintain and manage a strong working relationship with new and existing customers and suppliers, at all levels.
To be part of the personal development process and attend reviews as required.
A degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical / mechatronics engineering, computing or applied physics (engineering subjects preferred). A higher degree is preferred. Working towards chartered status with a recognised institute.
Special Requirements of the role:
A knowledge of Automotive and Motorsport control and data acquisition systems such as Atlas, PI Toolbox and Motec.
A knowledge of analysis and simulation tools such as Matlab and Simulink.
