Vehicle Technician - Vehicle Systems Development and After Sales

A rapidly expanding company based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire is currently seeking to expand its service team. The company is involved in the design and manufacture of vehicle systems and interface components and currently exports globally to 22 countries with plans to open two new development centres in mainland Europe and the USA. This role will apply to suitably qualified Auto Technicians based in Shrewsbury, commutable from Telford, Bridgnorth, Wolverhampton, Stafford, Oswestry, Welshpool, Whitchurch, Market Drayton.
This is an excellent career opportunity for practically qualified vehicle technicians, mechanical / electrical engineers to expand their experience, development expertise and career opportunities. Following training in all aspects of vehicle Front End Auxiliary Drive (FEAD) design and development processes as well as refrigeration systems you will become an integral part of the after sales and design team responsible for the visualisation, concept, design, prototyping and development of systems and drive solutions covering LCV, HGV and PSV applications. You will be involved in both internal and external projects within the UK, Europe, USA and Asia with the opportunity to travel world wide with potential for relocation. You will have direct contact with customers in both demonstration and training roles, together with initial fault diagnosis and failure diagnosis. The role offers good promotion prospects.
Candidates must have experience in the vehicle service, main dealer, Tier 1 supplier or within the automotive or OEM industry. An appreciation / understanding of vehicle electrics and mechanical assembly / repair of vehicles and the stripping and reassembly of drive trains would also be beneficial. You will require a strong investigative and analytical focus, written, numeric and PC literacy coupled with personal initiative and drive.
Candidates will need to have:
- A strong practical knowledge of vehicles and sub system
- City and Guilds Level 3 or higher/HNC/HND in mechanical automotive engineering, Master Tech qualifications will be given preference. Preferably with practical automotive or development workshop experience.
Other Attributes preferred but not essential - Fluency of English, Literacy written, numeric and IT
- An appreciation of design and analysis techniques
- An understanding of FEAD, able to interpret and understand 2D engineering drawings
- Practical knowledge and understanding of common manufacturing processes such as pattern tool manufacture, sand casting, CNC machining
